Three boys go out to play - Harry's Holiday

Borrowing Henry's walking boots (kindly sent to Henry by Susan), and his new baggy jean shorts made by Henry's Mum this morning Harry was itching to get outside to play.

He is certainly warmer than he was the other day...

What's Henry doing hiding behind the tree?

"I wonder where Henry is?"  Harry says.

"He is hiding over there calls Bobby", pointing in the direction of the tree Harry is approaching.

"We can see you"  Harry and Bobby cry.

"You can come out now Henry"

The boys discuss what they should do next...

Harry looks like he has an idea, and Bobby and Henry look at him expectantly...

"Climb trees!"  Harry says from up high.

"I'm the King of the Castle" Sings Harry.
"It's not a Castle silly", says Bobby it is a tree!
"Don't call him silly", says Henry   "Don't forget he is from America, maybe he has never seen what a castle looks like?"

"Oh you two are funny", calls down Harry.  "It is a saying, it goes like this, I'm the King of the Castle. You're the dirty Rascal   Surely you have heard that before in the playground?"

"Of course we have," chorus Bobby and Henry together.  "You better get down from there before Mum see's you, otherwise she will be worried, after all she would hate to send you home in plaster!"

"Come on lets go and play a game of football.  The grass is a bit long, but I'm sure we'll manage"

"You're Goalie, Bobby"

"I'm ready to defend the goal", shouts Bobby in a crouched position.

"Kick it to me Harry", calls out Henry.

"Got it..."

Henry kicks it towards the goal, Bobby crouches down to stop it...the excitement is building...

Does Bobby save the ball from scoring a goal?

"Goal!"  Cheer both Harry and Henry

Bobby stands up disappointed he lost the goal and then slumps back down onto the ground again all forlorn.

"Come on Bobby, it doesn't matter it is only a bit of fun", both Henry and Harry reassure Bobby.

"It's not that", sobs Bobby.  "I think I've hurt my foot".

"Here", says Henry.  "Lean on me and we will help you back inside"

Perhaps we can ask Mum if we can watch a film.

Knitting for boys

I haven't really been able to do any sewing or knitting this last week due to having been plagued with bad pain and a headache/migraine that I just haven't been able to shake.  However last night I did get out my knitting to finish the sleeves on a little jacket I was making for one of my Kidz n Cat's boys that I started the beginning of April.  This pattern is called 'Urban' by Debonair Designs and is a great pattern to knit.  Like all of Deb's patterns that I have tried so far, this is clearly written and very easy to follow and knits up exactly 'like it says on the packet'.  I wanted an 'earthy' look for the one I was making so used some of my wool (Naturally Heather) I bought from New Zealand while I was over there.  I am wishing I had bought more now as I only bought two balls of each colour that I wanted, and I am quickly using it up!  It wasn't cheap though...

Modelled by Kidz n Cats Bobo, currently renamed Bobby until anything better comes to mind.

I added the leaf buttons in different colours.

Seems to be just the thing for this cold and miserable spring weather we are getting

Need to make him some trousers now, it is far too cold for shorts!

I have also been working on a vest/tanktop for Henry.  I have been trying various patterns that I have either found or bought, but not really been happy with any of them as I wasn't achieving the look I wanted.

I sat down in the end with some graph paper and drew out the pattern and worked from that.  I'm still not happy with the neck line, but so much closer to achieving 'that look'...

Again this was using some of my New Zealand Wool, this time Naturally Aran Tweed which is 95% NZ Merino and 5% wool knops.

Please note I will be revamping my Henry's Fashion for Gregor: For Sale page this weekend, with a new layout and new items.

Holiday with Henry - The Red Twins Arrive!

Henry, the boys and the girls have all been excited since they heard that The Red Twins, Harper and Harry were coming to visit them and stay for a while.  What they didn't know was quite when they would arrive.  Such a surprise when there was a knock at the door this morning and a box was handed over...

"Oh my, this looks like one of the travel boxes I came in",  says April...

"Quick let's open it up and see who is inside."  Jane says excitedly.

"Did Mum say we were getting another brother or sister?" asks April

"I wouldn't think so", said Henry. "I think you and Saffron are the last to arrive for a while..."

"Hello, anybody in there?"

"Yes, its me", a voice replies.

"Gosh it is a bit hard clambering out of here isn't it?"

"Here I'll help you", volunteers Henry.

"Oh you must be Harper", the girls chorused, as Harper stands there looking rather dazed and dizzy after her journey.

"I think you must have stood up too fast", says Jane wisely...that's what happens to Mum sometimes if she stands up too quickly, she gets dizzy.

"Shhh", said Henry.  "I'm trying to hear if there is anyone else in there.  Aren't you supposed to be travelling with Harry?"

"I'm sure he was with me", Harper replies, as the girls all approach the box to have a look

"There look, whose head is that?!"

"Surprise!" Harry calls as he jumps up and waves to Henry, while Henry waves back.

"Hey, you got out of the there quickly", Henry says

Bear Hug....

After that slightly 'manly' show of affection the boys stand off from each other bit and survey each other.

"You're taller than me", Henry says while looking up at Harry. "And I think you are going to be cold in those shorts and sandals, the weather is terrible and apparently it is going to get colder this weekend."

Harry looks out of the window worriedly.
"Never mind", Henry reassures Harry.  "I'm sure I've got something you can borrow, or my Mum will make you something warmer.

In the meantime Jane seems fascinated by Harper's hair colour.

"Look your hair is so much darker red than mine."

April looks on shyly, while Harper has a slightly apprehensive, but also slightly stubborn look on her face...

"We should do a hair comparison...we have got other red headed sisters in our family...come on lets go and meet the rest of the girls...", Jane and April say together and they wander off...asking lots of questions and talking...

"How long are you staying for?"
"How old are you?"
"I like your dress it really suits you"

Whheee, look at meee...

If Henry goes anywhere by car, his usual companion is Emily my brunette Gotz girl who went to Germany with him.  However as we were visiting our friends in Cambridge and they had sent me an article on American Girl Dolls, I thought I would take Kirsten, my Ebay bargain AG to show them.  Of course they have to be strapped in safely.  I wonder if Saab knew when they designed this booster seat that it was going to be used for dolls?!    I have such a good husband who happily goes along with this, he even makes jokes about how good they are in the back with no arguing etc...  In fact Henry stood beside him while he ate his dinner...he would have sat beside him, but there wasn't enough room...Shhh don't tell!

So anyway the rest of the photos from yesterday when Henry went to play in the park...

Come on Dad, help me on the slide...

That's it, you can let go now

Wheeeee...

Look at meeee!

Down I go...

And like any child he was soon back up the top asking for more!

We had a lovely lunch in 'The Lazy Otter' beside which is this little marina.

It was a lovely day with friends.

Henry & Hubby having fun

Who says husband's can't have fun as well!

Just hope he doesn't see this as I said he wouldn't appear in the photo, but when I saw the smile I couldn't resist as he obviously was enjoying Henry playing on the slide.

The rest of the photos tomorrow, when I am feeling more up to things.

Brothers

My 1968 Brunette lad Connor and Red head James have just come home from being restrung.  They are very happy they can now stand unaided and are such a lovely pair.   They have been restrung by Brenda Walton  who worked at the Sasha Factory in Stockport from 1963 until 1998.  She has done a fabulous job on them.  When I am feeling a bit better I will do another post about the two.
