It is with deep sadness that I write this.Erica, a fellow New Zealander and one the loveliest Sasha collectors I have been fortunate enough to have had both email contact and telephone conversations with has sadly lost her courageous battle with cancer.
Erica McLeod will be remembered with fondness by many. She took part in our Christmas Secret Santa Swap and I know she was delighted with the gifts that Anna sent her. She worried about not getting her gifts off in time, but I know would have worked hard to have achieved the very best she could.
I am lucky enough to have a couple of her gorgeous knitwear for my Sasha kids and a lovely sheepskin that I will treasure.
Our thoughts go out to Ian and family at this sad time. We will always remember her contribution to the Sasha World.
Lorraine, I thought of you when I read the sad news this morning on Sasha Mart - I was truly sorry that cancer finally had the final word for Erica after she fought it so bravely for so long. Her infectious enthusiasm for the Sasha Christmas swap and delighted thank you note after I sent the gifts showed me at least what a lovely person she must have been, and it certainly made the sewing and giving worthwhile, I'm sad she couldn't enjoy all her family and the Sasha's for longer.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to her this. She sounds lie a wonderful person. My condolences.
ReplyDeleteSuch devastating news.
ReplyDeleteErica will be sadly missed not only by all who knew her personally but by the Sasha community as a whole.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends as they try to come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful woman.
I never knew this lady, Lorriane, but had heard her name many times on the Sasha Mart, it sounds like she was a lovely lady and will be sorely missed. Very sad.

Lorraine, I was so saddened to hear this news yesterday. I had just been in touch with Ian on Saturday by email. We had corresponded a few times since I received my Sasha swap from Erica. She sent the most wonderful gifts and I know she put a lot of thought into it. I hope to post pictures soon. It was strange that when I visited my mother Saturday, she had brought out some of her Sasha collection to show me. I spotted an envelope from New Zealand with Erica's return address. My mother had received the package many years ago when she first met Erica at a Festival. My mother did not know Erica had been sick but had the dresses out that she had received because she was showing me many of her favorite things. She will be sad to hear the news. She spoke so highly of her and I had not realized how long they had known each other. Our Sasha friends are so special and we will remember Erica with such fondness. Brenda J. Myers
