Sewing for Sasha

Some of you may recall that I sold my first sasha doll 'Sasha' and then bought her back the other month after she had had two owners in a very short space of time.  Today I thought she could wear the new dress I made out of some New Zealand fabric I had - only right as she was the first to visit New Zealand with me in 2011.

The print was quite big and I wasn't sure how it would work - but I think it is okay.  I just love all the birds.

I'd love for her fringe to be even, but I believe this is an original cut - it doesn't look like it has ever been trimmed, and I am not a hairdresser so I will leave well enough alone.

  1. I think she looks lovely Lorraine, and how funny that you sold her and actually managed to get her back again after not one but TWO different owners. I think it was meant to be that she stays with you....you mustn't ever sell her again then!
The dress is pretty. The pattern is large but yes, it does work on her.

    1. Indeed Sharon - I saw her on Ebay only a couple of weeks after I sold her - I was really shocked as the lady who bought her from me said she was really happy with her. I didn't do anything about it at the time as I couldn't. I then saw her on Ebay the other month and knew who was selling her (a different person to whom I sold the doll) and the deal was done. She definitely won't be leaving home again!

  2. I love the dress, I like how the birds have turned out on the bodice.

    1. Thank you - some strategic placing without wasting too much of the fabric as I didn't have much to play with :-)

  3. I few weeks ago, I read an article (can't remember where) about things that find their way back to where they truly want to be. I think this little lady comes in that category; she clearly knows where she belongs!
The dress is lovely, Lorraine. The bird print is beautiful and the dress reminds me of those large print dresses for humans that come round every few years for summer/beach wear. The way the bird's tail drapes across her right shoulder adds to the beautiful effect.

    1. Isn't that strange how sometimes that can happen.

      It is lovely fabric.
