Ssss Sewing Sasha some Shoes

While out browsing in charity shops I often look for things that are cheap and also that I could re-purpose into something else. So when I saw this little vinyl leather look skirt I thought perfect!

Nineteen years ago I started making little leather slip on shoes for babies - they were a great success and I even had to end up purchasing an industrial machine that was better able to cope than my trusty Bernette that still works perfectly today some twenty odd years after I bought it. Sadly when I came to England, my shoe making stopped - plus by this stage my eldest son was four and I also sold the machine as it just wouldn't be feasible to bring it with me. So when I saw the skirt above I thought, how difficult would it be to make some shoes for Sasha? Not difficult at all as it turns out. Molly is modelling the first proto type.

I've only used one pocket of the skirt so far so I can imagine they will all have matching shoes before long!

Bank Holiday Sewing

A little duo outfit for Molly today:

A pretty pink flowery t shirt and shorts.

Her eyes have oxidised, but she is still pretty.

Molly was the second Sasha girl to join our family.

Still lots of daisies in the lawn!

Sewing on Sunday

A quiet Sunday spent sewing in the Studio. In the morning I was busy sewing something completely unrelated to Sasha and in the afternoon I made a new dress.

This pretty dress is being modelled by my 1995 Gotz Angela.

I'm really happy with the way this dress has turned out. The style and colours suit Angela.

I used some more of the fabric I had originally bought for making quilts with, these were some of the pieces left over.

Amongst the daisies....yes our lawn does need a jolly good mow!

I think this dress will become one of the favourites.

A dress for baby.

The babies are out playing today. The little yellow dress I made a month ago and pictures can be seen on my other blog here. Today I made the little red dress for the other baby girl.

Hmm....I wonder what mischief they are planning?

I also made a pair of trousers for the baby boy.

The babies have very little clothing so I may concentrate on them for a few day, seeing what I can come up with.

Too wet for play.

It was the boys turn today to have some clothes made for them. Shorts and t shirts were the order of the day. They were looking forward to playing outside, but sadly it is pouring with rain so they had to be content with being indoors.

Simon is seen here in his play wear yellow and blue stripe shorts with a yellow t shirt.

He has quite a choppy hair style and you can faintly see lashes under the eye shadow.

Next up is Peter who is a little shy.

Apparently it is all the rage at the moment for bright oranges, greens, and other colours.

He has a completely different hair style and eyes.

Ready for five a side? Just need the football!

Cora in Yellow

Nothing hand made by me today as I have had the afternoon out with a friend and pottered round the garden this morning. However I do have a pretty dress to show you, worn by my newest girl Cora all the way from the USA. I bought this pretty dress from Ebay Member Margaret of justsew1940 . I have a couple of dresses made by Margaret and they really are lovely. I thought this pretty dress would be just perfect on Cora.

It sure is good to be out of the travelling box and to be back in the country of her 'birth'.

Bare foot and fancy free.

A lovely afternoon spent in the studio sewing a couple of dresses for Sasha while listening to The Pied Piper of the Opera (2000) with Martin Fröst on clarinet. He really is a wonderful player and so inspiring, I think I am going to have to get my clarinet out to try playing again and just put up with the pain! I miss it so much.

First up in 'Sunflower Fiesta' (yes that is the name of this red and blue fabric - go figure?

Barefoot and fancy free!

The blue in the dress highlights the blue in her eyes.

Next up the fabric that perhaps should have been called Sunflower Fiesta, but instead is From the Tuscan Sun has been used to make a smock type dress.

Perfect for running and playing amongst the daisies.

She has the sweetest face.

The brunette is quite petite in comparison to the blonde.

They enjoyed playing out on the grass in their bare feet.

Multi Stripes

Using Katia Ole Tibet Sock wool (75% wool, 25% nylon), this wool was lovely to knit with. The pattern I followed was absolutely terrible though, the back and neck is all wrong, although I've managed to kind of fix it, but I know I won't be using this pattern again. I had tried this pattern before and thought the first time it was me reading the pattern wrong, but no, it is wrong!

Still it fits well enough, as long as you don't look at the back!

I will try another pattern with this wool as it does make for interesting knitting and is lovely and soft to handle.

Sunday explorations.

A blustery ol' day today, but the sun is out and the boys were raring to go out to play. Please try this jumper on first.

Hey I didn't mean to keep it on though.

Pardon? You think it is good for camouflage?

Oh it's a long way down!

Amongst the daisies

Such a lovely sunny and gorgeous day. Everything looks so much brighter and more cheerful when the sky is blue and the sun is shining. To reflect this I thought I would use some of my lovely blue daisy fabric. I don't have much of this left now as I made an apron for a friend's daughters Kitchen Tea Party, just before she got married. I saw her the other day and she mentioned how much she loved her apron which reminded me of the fabric. Perfect fabric for a day such as this.

I am really quite pleased with the way this dress turned out.
