Henry repacks and Stevie gets some new shoes.

Phew!  I managed to convince Henry that he really didn't need to take quite as much as he was....

He has conceded to take only one pair of trainers - the black pair this time.  He has cut back on the shorts, and trousers and shirts, plus is only taking two of the four spades/rakes that came with his bucket.  It now all fits in his case, including his rain coat.

Brenda sent him this case before his travels in 2012 and it has been well used and is the idea size.

Henry checks the weight and thinks it will be within the guidelines.  So he is all set...as for his mother she hasn't even started thinking about what to take yet!

Stevie was intending to travel with Henry this year but has decided that she would rather stay at home with the others...I think she is a bit fearful about leaving home again.  There is no fear of that Henry reassures her.

He is sad that she won't be travelling with her, but understands that travelling isn't for everyone.

She too is wearing her fabulous New Zealand emblem t-shirt.  She is wearing new purple shoes that arrived today that match the t shirt and skirt and she is indeed very pleased with them.

The way to the girls heart is shoes it appears!

Henry wins a pair of shoes!

The other week Henry entered Macon Street Studio's shoe giveaway and to our amazement and delight he won!  He has been deciding which of his Sasha sisters to give the shoes to and finally decided that Stevie should have them.  Stevie tries them on and is delighted with them.

Look Henry, don't they look good?

Stevie holds out her foot for Henry to admire.

Yeah, they look great. Henry agrees.

Where you going?  He asks

Well I'm not sure yet Henry, but surely I must be going somewhere with these fabulous shoes on?  Stevie tells him.

Stevie also has a new cardigan.

She thinks she looks pretty good in this and I have to agree.

Thanks so very much for the fabulous shoes Monica, we are thrilled with them.

Lederhosen by Jean Jensen

A couple of weeks ago my friend Jenni sent me a couple of pictures of Harri wearing his Lederhosen made by Jean Jensen.  I thought it would be fun to put one my lads in the set we had and then combine the two together.  Well Peter arrived home a couple of days ago after being restrung by Brenda Walton and he volunteered for the job!

Harri and Peter.

Harri is the wonderful lad that I organised the fundraising for as a replacement for Rhodri who was kidnapped (i.e. stolen) earlier this year.

Ssss Sewing Sasha some Shoes

While out browsing in charity shops I often look for things that are cheap and also that I could re-purpose into something else. So when I saw this little vinyl leather look skirt I thought perfect!

Nineteen years ago I started making little leather slip on shoes for babies - they were a great success and I even had to end up purchasing an industrial machine that was better able to cope than my trusty Bernette that still works perfectly today some twenty odd years after I bought it. Sadly when I came to England, my shoe making stopped - plus by this stage my eldest son was four and I also sold the machine as it just wouldn't be feasible to bring it with me. So when I saw the skirt above I thought, how difficult would it be to make some shoes for Sasha? Not difficult at all as it turns out. Molly is modelling the first proto type.

I've only used one pocket of the skirt so far so I can imagine they will all have matching shoes before long!
