Between 4pm and 8pm on July 16th the Sasha Festival 2015 officially began! We all gathered for Registration and then to 'Mix and Mingle.
Hostesses Ginny Lee, Brenda and Barbara did a fantastic job off welcoming everyone with Ginny Lee in charge of giving out our goodie bags. (Contents of which will be shown in another post 'festival goodies' )
Poor Barbara had hurt her leg badly only the week before and was worried she wouldn't be able to make it to the festival, but sister Brenda was not going to let her get out of it that easily! A wheelchair was organised and a team of volunteers to help her get around. She did amazingly well as I believe at times she was in a considerable amount of pain.
The 'Mix and Mingling' started in earnest....
Tom and Carol
Hi there Marti & Tina!
Donna, Sheila and Anne
Jenny, Jackie, Pat, ?(Sorry name currently escapes me) and Elizabeth
Barbie
Intently studying the jounal....and trying to complete the competition puzzle.
It was so lovely to see a great bunch of children at the festival and I am pretty sure they all had a fantastic time!
The bags were laid out for the bag competition and there were some very talented entries - all vastly different and creative.
This was the winning bag - complete with cowboy outfit!
We gathered for the Texas Social Meal and Entertainment... Some of got to try food we hadn't experienced before, or certainly that was the case for me with the Frito Pie and S'Mores.
We had an enjoyable time getting to know different people through the 'find' your pinata owner. We all had to pick a little Pinata and underneath they each had a number and we had to reunite the little Pinata with their new owner to be.
I wonder if this little baby is going to want to give up their little Pinata?
Chatting...
Ella with Charla
Brenda telling us about the Pinata challenge. It worked really well and whilst going about the room I believe that we all got to meet new people and renew old acquaintances.
This was fun as during the process of trying to find the person to whom my numbered Pinata belonged I also met two 'Hitty Girls' and they both had their first carved Travel Hittys with them as well.
Hitty Madge was delighted to meet them both.
It was great to chat with them about both Hitty and Sasha.
Part Two Next.....
Part Two Next.....
Glad that you are now safely back home and BLOGGING as I have been patiently waiting to see your Festival detailed photos.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea of the Pinata matching to get people mingling and getting to meet each other. How were they numbered and to match them?
Loved the design and make a bag competition. I too would have voted for the winning no 4 with perhaps no 7 in second place... and is no 21 shaped on the lines of a Gregor's tent?
Great to see Susan. Heidi, Sheila, Diane, Catherine F ? Jackie, Tom and Carol and Marti who I have met before.
More please.
The Pinata were all numbered the same as our Festival numbers, we drew one out of the bucket and then had to find the person who had that number - it was actually great fun and a good way to mingle and meet.
DeleteYes there was a tent bag as well! They were all very clever and creative. Yes that was Catherine F :-)
More will be coming.
Lovely - I'm looking forward to the rest! - Jocelyn
ReplyDeleteThank you! Hoping to work on some more photos and get another post blogged about today.

ReplyDeleteHad a really super time Ginger - you were missed!
DeleteWhat an exciting start to the festival - it looks like you had a wonderful time. Lovely for us stay at homes to see some familiar faces as well amongst your photos (I'm so glad many of the US collectors came to the 2012 festival in England as it gave us a chance to meet them).
ReplyDeleteIt was a great start to another fun festival. Being able to meet up with friends from afar is always good fun.
DeleteGreat photos Lorraine and so nice to see some old friends, can't wait to see some more xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Theresa, more will be coming! :-)
