The saga of a Gregor with falling hair.

Now those who know me, know that I am usually a staunch advocate for leaving the boys as boys!  I always think they look a bit 'wrong' as girls....however I have a confession....I now have my first girl who was a boy...although he was only a boy for a less than a day here.

I bought a smashing Gregor who was listed as having non-falling hair.  Someone also asked the question and it was again confirmed he had non-falling hair.  I decided to go for him as he was a good price and I thought he was gorgeous and I do have a soft spot for the boys!  Of course I forgot to factor in the damn Customs Pirates - who again did their dastardly deed and held him to ransom!

He duly arrived WITH falling hair.  I was so disappointed, plus it felt like it needed a good clean so I thought I would try giving it a gentle wash.  BIG MISTAKE!  His hair came out in handfuls!!!

A lesson learned.

1.  Never wash Henry's hair. (Sadly his is falling as well now)

2.  Never wash the hair of a doll with falling hair.

Anyway what to do with my gorgeous 'now bald' lad?

I had a wig that I'd bought for Peggy Sue my Schoenhut Miss Dolly that I never used as she looked hideous in it, so thought I would try it on him - never suspecting that I would like it or that it would look okay.  But I think it will do for now.

Daniel, is now Danielle, or Danni.

His/her stringing is also incredibly loose, so I have done a temporary tightening job for now until I either send  Danni to Brenda to restring, or attempt to do it myself.

Such a lovely face.

Shame about the stray hair - they always manage to get in the photos!

Disaster and tears averted...not all was lost.

I think until I find another wig, this one is okay.

What do you think?

Operation Sasha Festival!

Gotz -a - Go to the Sasha Festival!

I am seriously hoping to go to the Sasha Festival.

I need a break and have a couple of invitations to also visit friends.

Of course how to go about achieving this is something else...having had no income whatsoever since having to give up teaching after the surgery for TOS (Thoracic Outlet Syndrome) in 2008 makes this extremely difficult.  I had hoped that coming off medication would help bring back my motivation and that I could maybe look for some part time work.  I now realise (how long has it taken me?) that this is really not going to be possible.  It has been a long four years struggling with daily pain which fluctuates in severity and I need a break away from everyday life (especially having not been able to go and visit my parents this year)

So instead of feeling sorry for myself, which admittedly I have been quite good at, especially missing playing and performing on the clarinet so much, I've decided to go for it!

There is only one way possible for me to fund this trip - and that is to sell things - of which all I have of value is my dolls and my instruments.

So my Tenor and Soprano Saxophone are going - DS2 won't let me sell my alto - I think he fancies having it himself.  I may also sell my bass and alto clarinet, but will keep my Bb and A in the hope that I may one day be pain free and be able to play again.

Now for the dolls - this is a hard one, as I  already downsized a lot last year - trying to pay back my Mastercard debt...which I didn't quite manage...and has since grown again...sigh...  Doll addiction without a job and income is difficult indeed, and I have no willpower - when in pain 'buy it will make you feel better' mentality which of course actually doesn't work! ;-)

To choose who is to stay and who is to go is difficult, and I have decided that I am just going to have the English dolls so the Gotz have Gotz - a - Go and sadly my gorgeous NP Ballet girl.

I don't want to just go to the Festival - I want to be truly debt and guilt free as well - then I can go with a clear conscience!

A Nice Afternoon for Tea

Cora and Peggy Sue enjoy afternoon tea together.

In the garden

What are you doing in here Humphrey?

Have you found something?

What a wonderful idea!

Lonely over at Absolutely-Sasha is hoping to raise money for the charity SHELTER who help the homeless.  What a wonderful cause - it is so good to be involved in something like this and Henry has already offered to have Drake stay here for a while.  You can read more about it here.

Henry helps out in the garden.

Today we had the trees trimmed.

Henry climbs the ladder to see if there is anything he can do to help.

Collecting all the fallen branches would be good please Henry.

Later on Henry gets distracted and goes for a wander around the garden.

He comes upon Posy and feeds her a dandelion leaf.

Climbs the Cherry tree to check out the beautiful blossom.

Great stuff!  The rhubarb is growing well.

May 1st - Cora

This month's Trendon girl is Cora.  I bought Cora from Lauri in the USA and have had her for over a couple of years now.  After 'rediscovering' her and seeing her personality develop the last few days, I just had to feature her for May.
