Followers?

Goodness me!  What is happening to my 'followers' - they seem to be dropping like flies....I am sure I had over 90 last week....last night there were 77 and this morning 71!  Is is a glitch in the system, or am I just boring everyone silly they aren't interested any more?  Do people want to see different things?

Not that it really matters as only a very few ever comment anyway - that is not what it is all about, I like blogging for me and to be able to look back on things I have done over the years is a great record.  But it is interesting to know what people would like to see and read about and like most it is always nice to get comments.

  1. I would guess it's a glitch, too, because that seems like too large a drop in followers to be the natural ebb and flow. I follow you through feedly - not through blogspot - so mine probably doesn't even show up. :-)

    1. Strange isn't it? I have never really given it a lot of thought, but you get used to seeing a certain 'number' under the followers icon, but it is a bit like wallpaper, you don't notice after a while unless something changes. The number of followers on my other blogs haven't changed though...perhaps it is a glitch, or perhaps as you say some are now following through other means - or some because they just aren't interested in my ramblings any more which is just fine as well. I was just curious.

  2. It could be a glitch. I have also seen huge drops of followers in Instagram as well, so I'm not really sure!

    1. Well it seems Linda in her comment below has the reason. At least I know that it isn't just me!

  3. Hi Serenata, I saw your post on my reading list and just wanted to tell you that it's probably due to the Blogger decision about GFC. This is the link:

I'll catch up on your other posts and blogs as soon as my renovations are over, but I just wanted to tell you, so you know what probably causes this :-). Many greetings!

    1. Thank you for this information Linda - that make sense. It did seem odd the sudden drop! I will put a blog post up as they advise - so that people are aware they now need a Google account to follow the blog - seems a shame.

  4. Very strange about the numbers, but do know that we who are here are huge fans!

I really enjoy seeing what you have created. I also really enjoy reading and seeing about Henry's adventures and holidays (both here and on Henry's blog--speaking of which, I was very remiss about not commenting. His visit to London was very interesting and he gives such a nice perspective to things I have only read about.)

    1. Seems it is a change in how people can follow blogs as per Linda's comment above. Something is always changing!

    2. it is probably partly because Google friend connect is officially retired even though it does still work for existing users, it just doesn't allow new people to join. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Friend_Connect As people's following habits change the number of followers will gradually drop (mine have dropped too).

    1. Sounds like it is the change in how people can follow our blogs - just hope those that were can re-follow if they want to.

Still at least I know it isn't just me!

    1. So pleased - I just hope those that got cut off have realised I am still blogging and the same with others who lost around 20 followers!
