The Delectable Meredith

Meredith is my 'dream doll'   She is a 'No Philtrum' (NP) Blue Cord girl from 1966 with eyes hand painted by Kristina the art student.  She has, as Brenda Walton explained to me, what the factory originally called the 'Puddle Eyes' but are now more frequently known as Graphic or Developmental eye paint, the puddle eye terminology now being used for some early to mid seventies dolls.  Meredith arrived in June 2012 and  has only had two owners, myself and the person I bought her from who had had her since new.

She was a little 'scruffy' in her sale photographs  - here are a couple of pictures of her when she first arrived.

She has on her blue cord dress and pants and shoes, but was missing her socks.

With her hair brushed, she already looks smarter.

Cheering up with the promise of a new dress or two...

Her first outfit I bought especially for her was from the talented Betsy May

I love how the blue brings out the colour of blue in her eyes.

Meredith wore her special outfit when visiting Kendal back in 2012 and she was very taken by Kendals most minty pram.

She pays great attention to the baby inside.

Looks like Meredith might have an admirer, but I think she was oblivious - she only had eyes for the baby and the pram!

Meredith loves her smocked dress made by my dear friend Norvell.

It suits her beautifully.

Another close up.

Out in the garden during the height of the summer.  I so love this dress and it is just gorgeous on her.

Meredith tries on a knitted tunic dress I knitted in 2012 for size and quite liked the look.

Last year saw Meredith in pink...

...and red.  Just look at her fabulous hair!

Meredith still had her Christmas dress on until this morning - oops!

She, as you can imagine, was very pleased to be changing out of it.

As you can see in the photos so far Meredith has lovely long and very thick hair with a 'single fringe'

I think she may also have a 'full centre part' although I couldn't really imagine putting her hair in plaits or 'pig tails' as it is so thick.

She didn't need asking twice to change and chose one of my favourite smocked dresses by Kath

Butterflies and Blues!  Everyone who knows me well, knows how much I love both butterflies - we have a couple on our house, and the colour blue.

Looking a little pensive as the weather is very changeable at the moment and too windy to go out and play.

Yet another expression which I haven't really seen on her face before - I love how with a simple tilt of the head their expressions can change so much.

Meredith has teamed her pretty dress with a pair of JJ sandals and long lacy socks.

Love this girl so much.

It is very special that you are the second owner of Meredith. It is also very special that Meredith visited Kendal, a great trip for her getting to meet Kendal and her Sasha brood! 3. Lovely outfits Meredith is wearing, I also like the blue butterfly dress on her as with the green it brings out the colour of her eyes to an almost deep sea blue.

  4. Meredith is gorgeous - you're so lucky to have an NP. Has Henry decided who is coming with you and him to the celebration? I hope he chooses Meredith, I'd love to see her.

    1. I am lucky to have her DM...I found her on Evilbay :-) I don't think Henry has decided yet who is coming with him - he is keeping quiet so Peggy Sue doesn't hear about it!

  5. Very pretty little lady. Especially loved the photos of Meredith with the pram. It's so sweet to see our dollies play with their own dolls and toys. The butterfly print dress is just right for her 'coloring' and she wears it well.

Glad to see that you decided to continue blogging. I would have missed you as I check your blog almost daily as well as Henry's. And I look forward to Wren and Nelson's adventures as well as Peggy Sue's observations, too.

    1. Thank you Teresa, glad you have enjoyed the photos of Meredith and also enjoy the other stories. I am still struggling with the blogging, but the encouragement to continue is good as it gives me something to distract me from other things.

  7. What luscious locks she has, especially highlighted in the photo with her red dress. I particularly like the smocked lemon/cream and pink dress reminding me of summer which is just around the corner. Hopefully the sun will shine! She's a beauty.Vivienne

    1. Thank you - she really does have quite amazing hair. I am hoping summer is just around the corner as well...the temperatures have been a bit of a shock after returning home from visiting my parents. Keep hoping the sun will shine!

  8. It was wonderful actually meeting Meredith in person that time and she certainly enjoyed playing with that baby and pram.
A really lovely NP doll with her puddle eyes.... although I have also heard them referred to as 'dropped' eyes as well.

Some super poses capturing those lovely expressions. My favourite of her outfits seen here would be the smocked dress by Norvell and the Betsymay outfit in second place.

  10. Hi Lorraine -
Meredith truly is perfection - gorgeous eyes and hair. I like the pics of her with her front hair pulled back into a little ponytail (my favorite hairstyle for the girls). Brenda Walton must be fascinating person to talk to, having known both Sasha M and Sara Doggart very well.

    1. Hi Steve,

It was a true pleasure to spend some time with Brenda in her room at the 2012 Sasha Festival. She is so interesting and her knowledge of these dolls fascinating. I am just sorry haven't met up with her since, and don't get to meet up with her at any other time. I would love to chat with her again, such a lovely lady.

I'd forgotten I used to put her hair up like this...it suits her really well doesn't it?
